Rumor Mill: We’ve heard rumors that the RTX 3080 Ti has been packing 20GB of VRAM for a few weeks now, but Nvidia still hasn’t left any signs that such a card is working. However, according to a new leak, Ampere’s high-end product is getting closer and closer to the specs of the RTX 3090.
Alleged details of the RTX 3080 Ti (or RTX 3080 20GB or RTX 3080 Super) have appeared on the Chinese video-sharing service Bilibili and have been spotted by Twitter user HXL. It includes CPU-Z stills confirming the presence of 20GB of GDDR6X memory.
Based on the screenshots, the RTX 3080 Ti has the same 320-bit memory bus and 760GB / s total bandwidth as the standard version while copying 10,496 Cuda cores, 112 ROPs, and 328 RTX 3090 texture units. Elsewhere, the RTX 3080 Ti boasts a 1395 MHz base clock and a 1695 MHz clock speed, which is slightly slower than the RTX 3080.
Benchmarking software including Port Royal, 3DMark Time Spy, and Firestreet compared the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3090. They bump into an easy chart by Twitter user Harukaze5719; As you can see, both cards offer the same level of performance.
There were rumors that Nvidia would reveal the RTX 3080 Ti / 20GB / Super as the CES keynote earlier this month. Sadly, the RTX 3060 was the only announcement.
With its 20GB of GRDDR6X, the RTX 3080 Ti will stand alongside AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series, which all come with 16GB of GDDR6. It can also offer an attractive option for those following a high-end Nvidia card without having to pay $ 1,499 + for the RTX 3090.
The Radeon RX 6900 XT has $ 999 MSRP, so the RTX 3080 Ti can come at the same price. Previous rumors claimed that it would launch in February, but we’ll have to wait and see.
If the RTX 3080 Ti is genuine, it would certainly be another Ampere product to fall under the crosshairs of scalpers. More than 53,000 new Nvidia and AMD cards have been sold on reseller platforms, fetching $ 65.45 million.
